Hurricane Season Forecast!
Just received updated hurricane forecast for this year. It's a doozy!
Named Storms 15 - 18 (normal = 11)
Hurricanes 10
Major Hurricanes 5
Landfalls 7
Major Landfalls 2 - 3

This is not favorable!

With this latest info, I'm delaying my 700 mile kayaking into the Keys. I'm an "odds" kind a person, and these odds aren't feeling right to me. I'm still doing the planning, working out, buying equipment, reviewing maps, setting "go to points" in my Garmin Colorado GPS, acquiring additional "top spot" maps, buying additional food stuff that can be boiled in a bag, finding new techniques for cooking, and more. Recently found page for cooking in banana leaves (trying it out on my grill at home this weekend).
I'm considering going up to Nantucket, MA, visit family, and do some kayaking there.
Meanwhile, check out my web for new stuff!
gonenative Island Wear store front is up and running! shirts/tees/sleeveless/spaghetti strap/long sleeve/hoodies/jackets/cards/and more! LOTS of COLORS!
Until later, kayak fast - live slow

Getting the "hang" of this Blog

Getting the hang of this new blog.
Have developed a preliminary six page list of itemized trip items to be costed out by several different sources. Sort of a best bid process. I'll be posting it on my website soon. It will become a restricted web page to access. More to come on this.
Had a meeting with some kayakers in Florida. Went over some ideas about extended overnight kayaking. Lot's more to come about that.
Weather here is now in mid 80's regularly. Water warming up quite nicely.
Trying new linking process to see how it works. floridakeysimpressions.com
For now, that's all!
Send a comment / Question , I'll get to it ASAP! Thank you. FFLS K2

HELLO WORLD! Just started this blog to accompany my website floridakeysimpressions.com
I'm in pursuit of planning a 700 mile kayak trip from Sebastian, Fl to Key West and back, going through The Great White Heron Wilderness Refuge. I'll be gone for about 2 and 1/2 months, all by kayak, all camping. I'm documenting the steps I'm taking to plan, get ready, procure gear, trip routes, kayak packing, leave no trace principles, etc, etc.....
Finding waterproof gadgets, solar power chargers for all gadgets, simple food ideas, and more.
Documenting the trip with still camera, HD SurfHero video, outfitter suggestions, TopSpot Maps.
My website page "pelagic coral zone" on floridakeysimpressions.com was getting too long. Check it out for stuff I've been planning for the past half year.
I'll be entering here, periodically, new info about this venture.
Out of 4 plus million people that visit the Florida Keys each year, it's estimated that fewer than
12, ooo people have visited The Great White Heron Wilderness Refuge. It is just what it says, Wilderness, set aside and declared by the Government.
Anyway, lot's more to come! KFLS
